Con Edison Faces Hard Questions at Hearing

Submitted by Walter J Hinkelman, Aug 8, 2007 11:21

What is it that the City Council members don't get. Looks like typical grandstanding for a bunch of folks that constantly have to justify their existence. A pipe exploded underground. No one wanted this to happen. This is a tragic event. Should we rush to judgment or wait for the undisputable facts before we pass judgment and affix responsibility. It appears that the obvious, such as a week connection or previous repairs, was not the cause. Monitor the facts closely to insure that only the truth is brought forth and not a mass of self serving verbiage produced for headlines and law suits. If the council members think that there is some type of cover-up in progress, particularly with a company that has faced such a dilemma in the past and is well aware of the consequences, they should have their heads examined while the pipe is being examined as well.
