Martin To Retire as Greatest Jet Since Namath

Submitted by Nick, Aug 9, 2007 21:02

Like it or not, Mark Gastineau was the greatest Jet to retire since Joe Namath. His amazing accomplishments on the football field are largely over looked because he was such a jerk off the field. Of course, he had run ins with the law and drug problems but that doesn't take away from the fact that this guy had 107.5 sacks in 108 career starts, (who else has done that)? That's Hall of Fame caliber and no one will admit that the only reason why he's not already in the Hall is because as a person he wasn't exactly a model citizen. I've been a lifelong Jets fan since I can remember and I love Curtis Martin but he's not the 2nd best NY Jet ever, Gastineau is.
