Dinner With Jim Webb
in response to reader comment: Politeness? Dignity?

Submitted by Bob Z Dylan, Dec 1, 2006 16:39

Webb is an interesting fellow. I've never read any of his writings, other than the campaign excerpt wherein a boy had a penis in his father's mouth. Not sure I understood that at all. Also, I'm not sure if Democrat Party leaders are any more or less ruthless than their Republican counterparts; it would seem to me that being a mean and nasty, autocratic bully is the way of politics, for the most part. I'd only suggest that Democrats play the game better, they definitely play to win and Republicans seem to misunderstand and misuse the use of perceptions, images and style in the 21st Century. What Republicans don't seem to understand is that the average voter likes some one such as Webb who is eccentric, electric and stands up to "the man". No, it doesn't matter or seem to register to that same average voter that Webb is, indeed, "the man" now that he has been elected. So, Republicans, the point of this Webb fellow is not to argue about manners and whether an individual is an arrogant oaf or not. Playing nice will not win you back your political prestige and return you to power. Start barking and biting and make the Democrats' lives as miserable as you possibly can at every turn you can. Otherwise, Republicanism is just another word for "wussy". Wussy as in can't win wars and can't win elections.
