Dinner With Jim Webb

In politics, there are going to be differences of opinion.
There is the dry British approach, where political discourse
has a measure of detachment. Wherein disagreement, even
strong disagreement is tempered by control of one's
emotions. If one does get carried away, over-emotional,
they are invited to take up a different pastime. Politics
is too volatile for those who have control problems. We
have only to look southward to the inaugeration on the
new Mexican President to see the product of emotions
run wild.

That Senator-elect Webb has already been rude to the
President, and too, has admitted he wanted to sock him,
it is not what is looked for in a Senator. They are elected
for 6 years, and already people are watching for Webb to
meltdown. If he is to announce to the public that he wanted
to hit the President, it sparks public curiosity as to what type
of personality he has. So certainly, people who have
had dealings with him in the past are going to write articles.
There is a difference between dislike, and hate. In hatred,
you have an element of violence, like when Webb was so
angered at the President, who I suppose didn't take the
political jab from Webb the way Webb wanted it, that he wanted
to take a poke at the POTUS. Not a sophisticated way to
make an entrance into Washington DC. Nowhere in the
article by Tyrrell do you see that hint of violence. It is definately
negative towards Webb, but to call it hate is exaggerating.
