High School Meets High Fashion

i especially like the fact that the boys want to dress, be well groomed & are appearance consious. thats the way it was when i was in jr. high & high school school. i grew up in new york too, brooklyn. we were very clothes consious, in those middle class neighborhoods. then the hippy thing took hold. it took years for this to be mainstream. slobs. i remember this was a horror for people to see. so many years since then ive seen kids in ripped jeans, etc. now i suppose those slobs are grown up, old, & now putting down the kids who want to look good. they should take off their backpacks. i loved to dress well when i was a teen. i didnt have as big of a budget as the east siders, but i did have credit cards. i also had clothes made at the local tailor. copies of what i saw in voque. no i didnt wear fancy high heels expect for a special event. spike heels, not too different from manolos. if a girl wants to be ultra sophicated, thats ok! i wore levis (as we didnt have designer jeans), turtle necks, nice boots, tailored coats. or shopped @ the hip boutiques w/the latest from london &the newer designers. yes these stores were expensive. snake skin, suede, etc. there wasnt any advertsing of high designer stuff. there wernt million dollar corporations with bill boards. either you had taste or you didnt. ofcause the hippy types were down on my occasional display of extravagance. it seems no matter what kids do they will they get critized. id rather see nice clothes than peirced noses with dirty sneakers. t.v. shows for middle america are exaggerated! most private school girls are not wearing chanel. but thats show biz!
