Fuel cells provide base load power and since they are quiet, have a compact footprint and produce power more efficiently than any traditional electricity generator, they are an excellent part of the alternative energy solution. Our company, FuelCell Energy, has already proven that the economics work in over 50 locations that have generated over 180 million kWh of electricity worldwide.
New York needs to put in place mechanisms to help electric customers and their alternative energy providers install these more efficient power plants within reasonable timeframes and without undue fees. In Connecticut, the Clean Energy Fund is an excellent model and is in the process of helping to get 100 MW of clean power generation underway.
