Giuliani's New Hard-Line Stance On Immigration Draws Skeptics

Submitted by Juan Marquez, Aug 15, 2007 11:31

National Databases & Biometric Cards are great ideas that should have been implemented yesterday, but you can't stop illegal immigration with a fence. The only way to resolve it is with a comprehensive LEGAL immigration program. The reality is that the U.S. needs anywhere 500,000 to 1,000,000 blue collar years during high economic growth years.... and the current legal immigration program falls way short of it. And that is why even with 12MM undocumented workers in the U.S. we are still seeing almost record low unemployment numbers.

The idea that smuggling (prodcuts or people) can be stopped with strong armed tactics is uninformed & ridiculous. The U.S. with its vast resources has no ability to stop drugs as they move from the Mexican border to the interior of the U.S.... similarly the U.S. has no ability to stop weapons from being smuggled to Mexico.
