In high school, the book that scared the hell out of me the most was '1984'. Orwell was prescient indeed.
It seems that our politicians ( I won't say leaders - we haven't had a leader in either party in 20 years) will always make "feel good" laws, especially to protect the children, while really important work like illegal immigration makes them grind to a halt.
No wonder their popularity polls are just above child molesters.
