Thank you for the informative book review. I will get the book. I thought you might find this added piece of the saga interesting.
Mr. Elliott, who executed Sacco and Vanzetti, lived next door to my grandmother, Mamie Potter Gilfillan Tekworth. My uncle, Frank Gilfillan was on his way to the Elliot's house and was blown back by the blast. Had he been a few steps closer he would have been killed. All of the windows in my grandmother's house were blown out.
My mother, Ethel Gilfillan (Donnelly) was a teen-ager at the time. After the bombing, there was a policeman parked in front of the house every day. She was not happy about that. Ironically, many years later she renewed an old friendship. Her friend's husband, Larry O'Neill, was one of the cops that guarded the house. He recalled what a snip she was. She agreed.
My mother always said Mr. Elliott was a very nice man. She also thought Sacco and Vanzetti were innocent.
