Not So Fast, Silver Says, After City Gets $354.5M To Fight Congestion

This is just one more monumental instance of governmental maleficence not only by the federal government for even considering providing the money (even with stipulations) but the New York Legislature for going along with this farce. NYC government has apparently "trumped up" this solution and worded it in an antithetical manner knowing full well that not only will it never function as proposed but the cost overrun to fully implement the program will result in nothing more than a duplication of the "Big Dig" in Boston. Add to this the inevitable corruption which always accompanies a project of this magnitude and you have the classic definition of a farce.

Why the NYC government feels justified in asking millions of citizens who will never set foot in NYC or Manhatten to foot the bill for their inefficiency is beyond me. It reminds one of the time in the not too distant past when NYC descended into bankruptcy and requested the nation bail them out. This is as preposterous now as that was then.

It is long past time that you folks in NYC, who consider NYC to be the economic and intellectual engine that drives the nation, to solve your own problems - you created them, now you solve them without the assistance of the rest  of we poor infidels not of NYC lineage. We are, however, intelligent enough to not board a train with a conductor who history shows will continue to wreck his train.
