Free Trade Advantage

Its not that free trade and globalisation are bad. Its just that so many economists learn Ricardo as dogma without understanding that the formula must out of necessity, change in the 21st century. Free Trade without support for the massive social upheavals it causes is by nature, doomed to failure. So please don't lament the new barriers to free trade which will surely be erected by the Democrats. Lament the clumsy implementation of free trade which was promoted by economists who may have been good students, but clearly weren't good thinkers. The problem isn't Free Trade. The problem is an implementation of free trade that depends on coldly inhuman terms like "adjustments to the labor market" and "transition to knowlege workers" without the slightest nod to their political ramifications.

Free Trade isn't a boolean state. Those who treat it as such are the ones who endanger it.
