If the OKC group would put a winning team on the floor of Key Arena for a couple of years they could sit back and watch the fans and the politicians of Seattle show their support in working out an arena deal. (Instead they traded away our 2 best players!) Mr. Bennett came in here and demanded an arena deal within the first year. He is showing no flexibility short of a $500 million expense for a team that has been struggling for years. The fan support, political support, and the money will return when he puts a better product on the floor and shows a little patience with the city and the state. Did he really think the State of WA would be willing to throw that kind of money at a losing team owned by a group of people who don't even live here but come in with a demanding DEADLINE of DO IT by 10/31/07 or else!? How about a couple of these owners moving here and really getting to know us and the needs of the region and then having the patience to work with the legislature on an ongoing basis? Not just making his case to one legislative session and then badmouthing the legislature because they failed to act NOW! I am an ardent fan who will be devastated if we lose out teams, but deals like the one Bennett and his group want don't happen that fast here in Seattle. A WINNING TEAM will do more to help him get his arena than any other tactic, including insults, demands and deadlines!
