I think that everyone will agree that the Galaxy is an improved team and the mere presence of Beckham has inspired them. This was especially true in the Superliga. However, I see a new pattern emerging: Galaxy opponents seem to be equally inspired, not only by the fact that they are taking the pitch against a world-class player, but also that they have perhaps the biggest crowd in their franchise's history supporting them. These big crowds are there to see Beckham but they are also supporting their home team and a good performance by them can endear them to all of these fans. You could see how momentous it was to the players also by the goal celebrations and post-match comments in DC, Boston, and especially New York. This might be the Galaxy's biggest obstacle: playing a club which is fired up to play their "game of the year".
