It is interesting to note when the President and his administration desire to make analogies to the past such as the war for independence and now the Vietnam War to Iraq. If I remember correctly the President and Secretary of Defense Rumsfeld were at one time saying you cannot compare Iraq to Vietnam when the word quagmire was being used to describe the situation. But both were quick to then make an analogy of the American Revolution for independence as the same movement and desires of the Iraqi citizens.
This President is known for making sweeping statements based on selective and often questionable research to fit his ideology. The current attempt to compare the withdrawal from Vietnam to the withdrawal from Iraq is to only take selective items of history to help justify the current actions by this administration. This tactic of taking selective items from history and then bending the truth to fit the thinking of this President and his administration is what is so infuriating. This President has an amazing yet disgraceful habit of putting a spin on everything that has gone awry.
