Hospitals Collaborate To Change Methods To Prevent Infections

Submitted by Linda I., Aug 22, 2007 09:08

In 1986, two weeks after the delivery of my second child, I presented in the emergency department with a temperature of 106, pluersy, pneumonia, empyema, and a collapsed left lung. At that time, I was informed by my physicians that this illness was primarily due to an acquired staph germ taken in by mouth sometime during my hospital stay. Thank God for my internist, Dr. Michael Schneider and especially my thoracic surgeon, Dr. William Craver, who was able to save my lung and my life. What a terrible shame that it has taken this long to become proactive with our healthcare system and address these problems. Nevertheless, we have to start somewhere!
