City Council Bill Would Take Out City's Styrofoam

Submitted by Art Fougner MD, Aug 23, 2007 08:00

Banning styrofoam is short-sighted. Styrofoam is a petroleum byproduct. As such, it is not unreasonable to assume that the styrofoam could be processed back into its petroleum precursors, thus becoming another source of energy to say generate power, heat homes, or provide fuel for buses. This process is subject of much international research and has been shown to be more than theory. So let's say ixnay on the anbay and continue collecting the styrofoam, setting aside for NY City's energy rainy days.
