City Council Bill Would Take Out City's Styrofoam

It boggles my mind that in an age when more and more resources are being cobbled up or horded by wealthy nations, that we do not begin to realize the value and potential in recyclable resources we discard so haphazardly. Styrofoam is not hte enemy, and other products pose other environmental problems. Stop all the rhetoric and look at all of the possibilities. Los Angeles has beguin a curbside recycling program for styrofoam. We need to stop thinking that every solution is a knee jerk reaction to "ban" or "prohibit" or "penalize". There are jobs at stake, why not follow California's example and find ways to develop additional uses for our waste. Stop thinking about the land fill and start thinking about markets, new innovative products for every day items that are being thrown away. Shift the focus from "putting something else in the dump" to re-using what we would discard. Think of all of the natural resourcnes we could save if we developed ways to recycle and re-use more products like California has learned ot recycle styrofoam.
