The author of this editorial contends: "Given the right information [ about Iraq ] the American people will make the right decision." The American people have already made that decision in the earlier election by taking away congressional control from Republicans, and have since been demanding an end to the war. That has been decided already.
The litany of arguments about merit and national security on continuation of the war have no merit because the invasion of Iraq itself didn't have any merit. Saying about the Iraq war: "Sorry, but we had falty intelligence and started the war" is not a a moral, ethical, or human argument when the war is allowed to continue for egotistical purposes. And when the U.S. has spend billions there for vast military bases as part of its invasion plan to establish military bases there as a counterwieight to Iran's rising influence, while the Iraqi population has been decimated and has lived without clean water and electricity since the invasion, then, those who still see the war as an "THE END JUSTIFIES THE MEANS" proposition need to have some introspection of their instincts to determine whether they are humanistic or predatory.
