At what point will Bush and your Editorial writer start to use facts in your arguments for the Iraq war?
The latest comparisons between Vietnam and Iraq (which this President previously stated were not valid) sound good if you twist history into a knot. The 'Bloodbath" in Vietnam after the war ended was unfortunate but nothing near compared to the destruction we wreaked (and here, we at least let the Vietnam refugees into the USA, unlike the political escapees who supported us in Iraq). The Killing Fields were the direct result of our involvement in the area. Our illegal bombing of Cambodia weakened the oppressive regime of Sihanouk, leading to Pol Pot and the Khmer Rouge reign of terror. The Vietnamese were the ones who finally ended the Killing Fields, not us. The fall of Vietnam did not start the "Domino Effect" leading to Commies in California, as threatened by the Vietnam Hawks.
Simply staying the course does not change the facts that this war, like the one in Vietnam were immoral, started with lies and continued because of fear mongering. Are you waiting for the Bush administration's statement that there is "Light at the End of the Tunnel" before you admit you were wrong, both then and now?
