Preventing a Nightmare

I wonder if Tyrell is reacting to Gov. Eliot Spitzer's recent veto of legal registration plans for the Segway, the computerized two-wheeled, stand-up vehicle that can climb steps and achieve a dozen miles per hour?

This veto, on technical or safety grounds was specious enough; but apparently the Governor weighed the advice of the ever-watchful enviros who claimed that the Segway would displace healthful walking and yield increased waistlines. Spare me.

One has to wonder who wrote that innocuous legislation's veto message and what was its real message?
