Awaiting the Food Tsar

Andrew Wolf's comments made me sick to my stomach. Nothing can justify force feeding ducks until their livers expand up to 12 times their natural size. Common sense—and knowledgeable veterinarians—tells us that this causes the birds to feel pain. They aren't cartoon animals, after all. And if there were any question, the humane thing to do would be to err on the side of compassion and not eat foie gras.

People really do not have the right to eat whatever they wish. We can't eat dogs and cats in this country. I couldn't go on a killing spree and eat my neighbors if I thought human flesh was a delicacy. We have laws against murder, rape, assault, and other savage acts. Foie gras production is equally heinous and should be a crime. Fatty duck liver is one "luxury" that I am more than willing to do without.
