Have you ever heard of the Robin Hood Law in Texas. It was meant to bus money from wealthy school districts to poor ones. This is what has happened- people pick a place to live-pay taxes for that area-send their kids to the local public school and the taxes they pay to support their school goes far,far away to areas where no one is paying taxes! So- the wealthy still live in these privileged areas but now they send their children to private schools so the local schools don't get any benefits! So much for busing the money -
Parent involvement is the only answer to improving schools. When people have a vested interest in the education of their children and where they attend school it doesn't matter if they are black, white, red, or yellow!
