I very sincerely apologize to you, Morgan, and anyone else as personally invested in the history of the massacre depicted in the film as you obviously are, for not having cracked the books harder and researched the actual events in more minute detail, but I was reviewing a movie, not giving a guided tour of the events the film was based upon. All I was attempting to say (unsuccessfully, I gather) was that there was a lot more to the massacre than SEPTEMBER DAWN showed or told.aI don't think the historical details that you've generously shared change that, but I may be kidding myself. If you think my treatment of the "story" (a tricky word when applied to history and fiction at the same time) is superficial, just wait until you see the movie.
