How can 100 - 200 million metric tons of coal produce
560 to 1,120 million metric tons of CO2 if complete
combustion of 1 lb of pure carbon results in 3.66 lbs
of CO2. Coal is less than pure, and combustion less
than complete, so the ratio should be even less than
3.66, not 5.6 as the article numbers represent??
(The amount of CO2 is still huge, but something doesn't
seem right with those CO2 numbers.)
