Ex-White House Spokesman Now a Voice for Metal Bats

Submitted by Geoffrey Johnson, Aug 28, 2007 18:49

I have to question any statements made by a paid voice. This man has spent the bast majority of his life mouthing for a political party and apparently that has not changed. He is the president of a company which has been hired by a very wealthy industry to protect their interests. They may as well have gotten Jarred from Subway to be the spokes person.

I understand what this man, and the industry he is representing is trying to say. Hitting with metal bats create a far more entertaining game to watch, as well as to play. Not being a big fan of baseball, I would say that anything that could spice up the game would be great. My thoughts aside, neither he nor the industry he represents have brought out evidence that their bats are as safe, if not safer than similar bats made of wood. With the money they are making with a near monopoly at the collegiate level of play, I can not understand why they have not completed a study of their own, proving beyond any doubt at all, that their bats are safe.

There have been several comments made by professional ball players questioning the velocity the hit balls have coming off a metal bat. To me, that holds a lot more water than some ex-almost politician being paid by manufacturers to back their product.

Unfortunately, as with all things in this wonderful life, the power of money will win over. The lobbyists will hit up the politicians behind the scenes, laws as such will be over turned, and metal bats will forever remain a staple of non-professional sports. My regrets to the parents of the next child to die, so that people like Mr. Fleischer can make a buck or two.

Cheers!
