The Academy on Trial

This is only the latest example of Kronman taking his high pontifical horse out for a ride. He did the same thing several years ago in his book The Lost Lawyer, bemoaning the demise of the lawyer as statesman. He once was highly regarded in the legal academy, but now he is in danger of becoming a laughingstock. Some people (not all), begin to believe strange things as they get older, seeing the world they once knew be redefined by a generation that no longer venerates them. Some are bemused by this and others get mad. Kronman ought to focus attention on the meaning of his own life. For better or worse, it's the only one he has anything of relevance to offer. Maybe this is just another effect of a Williams education. George Steinbrenner went to Wiliams and he's spent a lifetime telling others what to do. Could global warming be a targeted phenomenon, the product of an intelligent designer testing her powers in small, obscure, out-of-the-way places on the globe? Someone should do an air quality study in Williamstown; check the oxegen level. This wouldn't be the first time that bad air messed up dinosaurs.
