Giuliani Ex-Aide Works for Firm on Demolition

So the finger pointing has begun. High ranking FDNY officers have been demoted and everyone is blaming someone else.

But those at the top continue to be immune from investigation and even rewarded for their incompetence.

Unfortunately no one should be surprised as this has been business as usual when it comes to Ground Zero.

This will be in the headlines for a few weeks, there will be a few scapegoats but then it will be swept under the rug of secrecy by the LMDC.

Follow ups will not be done. Audits will be promised but never delivered. Investigations will be lost in the bureaucratic mazes set up to protect the guilty.

If you don't believe it here are a few examples.

The original search and recovery effort that was coordinated by the LMDC missed 1,687 human remains.

Michael Burton, the man responsible for declaring the original search complete, under budget and ahead of schedule, now works for URS the private construction firm overseeing the troubled demolition of the former Deutsche Bank building.

The excavation of the Haul Road, that was reportedly constructed from fresh fill, has uncovered 407 human remains, 2 eighteen foot steel beams and God only knows how many articles from the towers (since this has not been reported by the LMDC) and not one person has investigated.

For over 2 years we have been questioning the reports alleging that nearly $900,000 and thousands of personal items from the WTC are missing from the NYPD Property Department but no one has investigated.

Again it goes to self monitoring. The LMDC decides what gets done, when it is considered complete and anything that goes wrong gets conveniently lost in the shuffle.

What is going on with the Deutsche Bank Building is just the latest example.

The situation will only get worse as construction continues at Ground Zero.

The Deutsche Bank Building is owned by the LMDC, and should have been held to NYC Building and Fire Codes.

Lets see if anyone follows up on the violations. Lets see if those really responsible are held accountable. Lets see if anything gets done.

The bottom line is that if we cannot do this for a building that was built and governed under these codes what hope do we have for an entire complex that is being constructed exempt from NYC Building and Fire codes.

More likely it will be business as usual with lots of finger pointing but very few results.
