The Front Lines of Manhattan

Great article and great discussion of Mr. Podhoretz. He is definitely one of the most patriotic and far-seeing journalists of our time.

I, too, am more optimistic about the length of time it would take us to defeat the Islamo-Fascists. I think that we should, right now, destroy the Iranian state apparatus -- thereby ending the major intellectual and financial supporter of Hamas, Hezbelloah, and Al-Qaeda in one stroke.

Since 1979, with the taking of the American hostages, we have had every moral justification we need to bring down the Iranian regime. They are psychopathic criminals, not any kind of legitimate state deserving recognition and diplomacy. Much as the Nazis were in their day.

With Iran working to build nuclear weapons, and the grave threat that poses to the safety of our country, we should act now, before Iran gets the weapons. We should launch massive airstrikes against every known nuclear, military, and government installation in Iran, including those seed-bearers of Islamic totalitarianism, the mosques. The entire government and ideological superstructure of the country should be leveled. (As always, any civilian casualties will be the moral responsibility of the aggressors who by their own actions put their citizens into harm's way.)

Once this happens, we'll see how many regimes elsewhere in the world want to continue to finance and support terrorism. I think we are reaching a point now where people will choose leaders who will lead our country back to a position of righteous confidence and determination in the world. Step one is annihilating a vicious enemy, Iran, that should have been defeated decades ago.
