Frank Bowe, 60, Deaf Advocate for Disabled

As a 1st year graduate student at Gallaudet in the Spring of 1977, I was in awe of Dr. Bowe when we were "assigned" the task of attending part of the sit-in to support implementation of section 504. Our afternoon at the sit-in was held during the budget hearings for several disability related institutions. Our professors were immensely proud of their former student and I know I wasn't the only grad student intrigued by Dr. Bowe. He was our role model: heroic yet soft spoken, a man of passion and commitment yet bookish and intellectual. It is with deep sympathy we will all mourn his passing and the world has lost a truly first class citizen!
