I loved the novel. I loved the movie. Ethan Hawke doesn't pretentious. He's a intelligent man and a excellent artist. Hawke does a fine job showing what it's like to be young and full of confusion. Hottest State as the novel as the movie are full of freshness of love and agony of lost. He has showed he can acting, write and directed. He's amazing!!!
