For Whom Bell Tolls

I agree with most of what is said here, particularly that it is about time black people began to take responsibility for ourselves and our style of life instead of looking for refuge in race or the effects of slavery. However, while Mr McWhorter is busy pointing out the questionable lifestyle the victim led, which implied he deserved his fate, a major point was missed. That there is something very wrong with the need for so many bullets to be fired at anyone, especially when they are not firing back. That, to me, suggests a mentality and an attitude so chilling in its possibilities, counting bullets then becomes more important than why they were fired.
