Ulrich Krieger is a genius. Anyone who can take a guitar feedback album like Metal Machine Music, and can transcribe it into a classical contemporary acoustic score, and still make it musical, has to be either insane or very very clever. Reed gets the last laugh here because when everyone originally wrote off the 1975 Metal Machine Music album, others took note. Not only is Metal Machine the benchmark of industrial rock, it inspired a new generation of rock bands. There would be no Sonic Youth without Metal Machine Music. While Robert Fripp and Brian Eno were "No Pussyfooting", it's Lou Reed's "Metal Machine Music" that still taps a nerve. Zeitkratzer's take is simply stunning. But don't take my word for it . . . .
