America's Future Ally

The Democrats are so invested in the notion that their control of the presidency requires a defeat in Iraq that we will not read about the good news there or a positive outcome for this war until well after the fall 2008 elections and further until the Democrats can put the proper spin on it so that the President is denied any credit, i.e., their opposition to the war and their threats to suspend funding caused the Iraqis to quit the internecine warfare. Lost in all of this is that President Bush, just as he was with tax cuts and just as he would have been with social security reform, was right to prosecute this war to a successful conclusion in order to keep our country safe. When has he ever received credit for protecting this country from any further attacks post 9-11 when several european countries have sustained painful attacks. He has done this in the face of the most partisan and bitter resistance to his foreign policy and his efforts to detect Al Qaeda threats, the worst and most partisan opposition since the hysterical opposition to the Vietnam war, a war we won on the ground but a victory that Walter Conkrite couldn't or would not recognize.
