I discovered folk music and Pete Seeger in 1963. He has supported many of the most positive movements in our recent history. It was his idealism that made him look into communism.
Many of his songs are as pro-American ideals as any every written. Some show us where we fall short.
I have learned to appreciate freedom and liberty singing his songs and teach them whenever I can. The author seems more bitter than Mr. Seeger ever was. Did the author lead freedom marches, save the Hudson River, help end the VietNam war?
Seeger is a seminal figure in the history of the 20th Century - worts and all.
