Study Notes Rise in Bipolar Children, Amid Misdiagnoses

Submitted by DONALD N. SHRADER, Sep 8, 2007 15:53

How does one tell if the Doctor really knows what he is doing when telling the parents that their child is bipolar? My great grandson was with the Doctor all of 15 minutes when he announced that he is bipolar, gave him medicine to dope him up and called for the next patient. How does a parent evaluate what the Doctor did? There doesn't seem to be any standards available and what I have seen is that bipolar could be nothing more than a child that has too much energy to get rid of and yet he will be given dope to calm him down and a reputation that will follow him for the rest of his live.
