For Whom Bell Tolls
in response to reader comment: Two-Tiered Society

Sounds to me as though there is massive need for education and increasing personal confidence and esteem among Black youngsters. The problem is not as bad here in the UK but there is a strong element of it developing. I suppose if one is brought up in a culture of blame for one's situation, where race and deprivation can be used as excuses, it is more difficult to motivate the individual in such a situation. Only education, empowerment and a strong sense of purpose can save our communities. The quicker we start the process is the likelier chance we have of saving the next generation. But first, like addicts, we have to collectively admit we have a problem and then search for answers, instead of behaving like ostriches in denying the status quo and reinforcing current behaviour, while hoping that someone else will resolve it.
