Tim: I'm curious, what happened in January that made it "clear" that Rodriguez would enter the market? Further, why do you seemingly discount that the Yankees simply offer to extend his current contract? Adding three or four years to the deal he has in place now would be a package almost no team could match. Particularly given the $21.3 million the Yankees will have coming from Texas from 2008-2010. Finally, while Boras has traditionally encouraged his clients to test the limits of the market, at no other team has that market not included the Yankees (or the Mets for that matter). Taking the two New York teams out of the mix greatly reduces his leverage. Your article smacks of nothing more than "I think I'll throw cold water over the fans today." It must be nice to just write such nonsense of the top of your head and never actually speak to the people involved.
