Tension Marks Anniversary of September 11

Submitted by Agnes Bussacca, Sep 11, 2007 10:50

Whenever I see a clear blue sky, it reminds me September 11, 2001. That morning I was talking to my son that lives on Maryland's Eastern Shore. He told me that the 'sky was soo blue that it was just specatular, you should be here to see it. As we were talking, news broke that it appeared a small airplane had struck the World Trade Center. We both said good-by and went to listen to the reports. My son called me back a while later and both of us watched in horror as the second airplane struck the Second Tower. This is one thing that neither of us will ever forget it. I had an oppurtunity to visit the WTC Site this summer, and was awe struck to see what was there. Even though there was traffic noise around the Site, it had a sadder then sad aura about it. All the construction equipment around the Site, seemed to be a scarilege and a total disrespect for the people who died on September 11, 2001. Listening to the news this morning, some educators say that this tradgedy too violent and should not be mentioned to students in elementary school, because they were to young, middle school and high school will be be time enough. What better time to educate our youth. American need never to forget September 11, 2001. We as Americans have the ability to quickly forget. We must remember t:hat the reason that this tragedy happened is because we are Americans and that we have the sad misfortune to keep this memory alive as we are AMERICANS.
