Who Can Afford a 60-HR Man Next Season?

Submitted by Steven Snell, Sep 11, 2007 13:32

I heard Cashman speak about this issue with Francessa. He clearly stated that the Yankess would bow out if Arod opts-out because that would mean that the Yankees would lose the benefit of the annual $10 million that Texas pays toward his existing contract. But he made it very clear that he was open to negotiating an extension of the existing contract after the season. Expect Arod to negotiate with the Yankees right up to the last minute before the opt-out expires.
