I've been reading from several American columnists the same "Spain doesn't even need to do well because they're already qualified for the Olympics" argument. If you're an European, that doesn't make much sense. Unlike the FIBA Americas Tournament, which is just an Olympic qualifying tournament, the European Championships is a prestigious tournament and really important for European teams which just happens to guarantee Olympic spots to the top teams, but that Olympic qualification is certainly far from defining the tournament
