NYU, Brooklyn Polytechnic Merger Talks To Resume
in response to reader comment: First Farmingdale, now Brooklyn??

Submitted by Major-T, Sep 15, 2007 16:12

I am sure that the students and faculty members from the NYU school of engineering had a similar concern when their campus became part of Poly in 1973, but life goes on! Ever been to Vietnam? I have and I still earned degrees from Poly while some of my closes friends are six feet deep from that war. Life goes on and sometimes we have to make sacrifices for the greater good. What about the students of the future, don't they deserve a Polytechnic Institute of NYU? If not that then perhaps the Brooklyn campus will close and then there will be no Poly period. Would you feel better then? The opportunity has presented itself and the time is now, not later. Incidentally, you can still put Poly on your resume regardless of where the campus was, is, or will be in the future. Although I am quite fed up with trivial people, who actually think these things matter. Poly represents an attitude, not a place. as long as we are here and as long as we are productive the Poly spirit will live on! I hope the merger happens because I understand change and opportunity.
