Cabbies May Strike To Protest Mandatory GPS Systems

It would be nice if the taxi driver requirements included speaking fluent English and actually being familiar with the streets of New York City. Too many times I have climbed into a cab only to discover I have to direct the driver where to go, using hand signals, because the driver cannot understand English and does not even know how to get from Point A to Point B. There was a time when this was unnecessary, but "the great" NYC taxi drivers are now few and far between.
