this issue is very interesting, as is the discussion of the book in the article. i personally think that there is probably a bit of truth in the book, but as i haven't read it i can't really comment until i have.
it is obviously a very emotional debate. it is definitely good that authors like these two can express their feelings in a democratic society. rather than slate these authors, i would suggest more objective reporting would be nice. it is important to offer an opinion, but ultimately the purpose of a journalist is to outline the facts and allow readers to make their minds up for themselves. the american public is smart enough to form their own opinions if they are allowed the chance to do so.
rather than use terms like 'anti-semite' at any criticism of israel, one should surely listen to the arguments and evaluate them on an academic basis, rather than resorting to mudslinging - if you are so against the book, ignore it and chances are people will not be even aware of it.
emotional terms and ripostes are easy and effective to write as a journalist wanting an emotional response from readers, but i suggest we all calm down, read the book for ourselves and make up our own minds.
