Unfortunately, the only individuals who appear surprised by these assertions are the Roed-Larsens of the world. But they and their disingenuous comments should be of no surprise to realists anywhere. The real disappointment lies with the Israeli government, which appears to have taken a page from the U.S.'s book on how not to fight a war. World opinion will never support either the U.S. or Israel. As such, the need for third-party approval should play no role in achieving battlefield goals.
