I would have thought the President could have selected a nominee for AG without such close ties to a Presidential candidate and that candidate's candidacy as Michael Mukasey and his son have? Then again, if the Honorable Senior US Senator from NY is so high on Mukasey, he must have "the right stuff." In any case, it appears the President opted for Mukasey to avoid a confirmation battle.
