Thanks for a great editorial! Isn't this the same James Baker who left Saddam Hussein in power after the first Gulf War, then imposed sanctions that killed the people and strengthened Hussein's grip on power? Isn't this the same Baker who let Hussein murder hundreds of thousands of Shia and Kurds after the Gulf War I while our troops watched so as to not destabilize Iraq? Isn't it the same Baker who tried to prop up Gorbachev, like the dead El Sid on horseback with a board up his back, hoping to save communism and the USSR from collapse? Maybe I'm thinking Josephine Baker? Does being wrong about everything make someone the voice of wisdom?
