If the Democratic position on the Iraq war is "radical", then a majority of Americans are as well. Without the Iraq war in the picture, Giuliani would likely win vs. Clinton. But Iraq will still likely be the number one issue a year from now, and a candidate running on a "stay in Iraq" platform will have an extremely difficult time getting elected, as seen in last year's Congressional elections. Unless Americans can see very significant progress in Iraq, with reconciliation between sectarian groups, the situation will be viewed as a conflict that the American military cannot solve. Also, it seems very likely that Iraq will be the defining issue in the general election, not "values" issues, especially with Giuliani running. I can't imagine pro-life voters coming out in full force for Giuliani.
