The Iranian President should be allowed to visit. As a member of the UN and as an interested foreign dignitary.
The comments in the article opposing his visit are disappointing. It is a sad example of what passes for dialog on any issue of controversy.
I might remind Karen Hanetty that her comment about who is supplying weapons is in dispute both as to the origin and the amount of weapons arriving in Iraq - especially in the intel community.
Furthermore assuming that Iran is the source, supplying insurgents in a bordering country is not terrorism. It is unconventional warfare using low intensity conflict tactics against a superior foe. I might also ask her what she would think if some nation like china had armies in Canada and Mexico called the US evil. So as a nuclkear power with the conventional weaponry to immolate Iran sits on both her East and West borders, I might ask Msi Hanetty to give it a thought.
I might remind her also that the US invaded a contained threat who wound up having no WMD. And I thought the notion of pre-emptive war or aggressive war in pursuit of oil reserves went out with the executions at Nuremburg.
Regarding Mr Hoenlin and his opinion of the sancity of a sacred place in the WTC site. If it was so sacred we would turn that are into a pastural park in memory of those who died - but we didnt. Furhtermore, there are areas in contested land which are places of worship but the last time I checked that didnt stop the IDF from including them in the collateral damage target lists.
Finally for those in our country who feel that we attack other nations that those persons do some travelling and a little more research. Finally I suggest that they go down to their local recruiting office and volunteer for the infantry . When they come back from defending america as some of us did we will have a shared experience to talk about.
