A lot of Ranger fans get upset with the fact that the Rags are not rebuliding. It is obvious that the fans, myself included, are excited to see what our abundent young talent is capable of. What they need to realize is that that now is not the time for that, but rather after next season when Jagr retires. By then Straka, Jagr, and Shannahan will have hung them up and made room for Nigel, Brandon, and Jarrko. I thought this article made very valid arguments, and I agree that the worth of the 3 defensemen mentioned on the ice is not equivilent to the paycheck they are receiving. By sending these guys down to Hartford, the Rangers are stuck with the cost of paying 8 million for 3 AHL players, but if they want to make a run they will have to improve thier D. On a sidenote, I had no idea that Marc Staal would be available to the Rangers this year. I remember Renney considering using him in last years playoff, but for some reason assumed he would be inellegable to play with the big club this year. Do you really think he could get ice time in the playoffs?
