The rich would pay more tax? No they won't. So when Obama, or any politician, says (s)he is going to shift the tax burden to the rich, (s)he's just saying that everyone should pay their fair share. Nothing wrong with that, is there?

And as for corporations. Well, if they can afford to pay their top managers a very decent wage indeed, then surely they have the same confidence to pay more in tax? After all, if the tax I pay helps fund the needed equipment for our brave men and women in Iraq, Afghanistan and other places, it helps to ensure we win the war on terror; it ensures that everyone in our society gets the start they need (and we have all enjoyed).

So, please, before you complain about "higher taxes", think about what you tax dollars pay for. Think about that life your dollar has helped to save. Think about the help you have given to all; think how lucky you are to live in a great country and how everyone should have the right to live up to their full potential - the same way you have.
